Traditional x-rays exposed patients to significant amounts of radiation, took a long time to capture and develop, and were cumbersome to view, store, and transfer to specialists. Digital x-rays significantly reduce the amount of radiation exposure, are quicker and more comfortable to capture, and are immediately available on chairside monitors for view. These digital files are easily shared with patients, insurance providers, and specialists. Additionally, we’re able to save these files on our computers to compare with future x-rays, making early diagnoses more accurate.
When we make a recommendation for your oral health, it helps to be able to see the problem for yourself so that you can be confident about agreeing to treatment. Intraoral cameras show you exactly what your dentist sees, allowing you to view high quality images of your teeth and gums from the comfort of your dental care. This way, there’s less of a risk of miscommunications or misunderstandings; you’ll have a firsthand view of exactly what the problem is.
Your smile is unique, which is why we need to take a dental impression if we want to provide crowns, veneers, dentures, or other restorations that fit properly. Instead of making you bite down on some putty, we’ll scan your mouth to take thousands of close-up images of the teeth and gums. These images can all be combined into a complete three-dimensional model of your bite. This process is quick, comfortable, and produces highly accurate results.
Anyone who has gotten a dental crown before might remember having to wear a temporary crown for weeks before the final restoration was ready. At Painted Skies Dental Center, there’s no need to wait; we offer CEREC dental crowns that can be designed and made in-office in just one day. That means you won’t be spending nearly as much time going back and forth from our office. And thanks to the precise computer generate measuring and control involved in creating the crown, the results will fit perfectly and match the rest of your smile.
