The last few months of the year are often jam-packed with to-dos – from shopping for friends and going to holiday parties to wrapping gifts and traveling out of town to see loved ones. So, it’s not too surprising that clear aligner treatment often takes a backseat. To prevent that from happening, here are a few simple tips for staying on-track with Invisalign during the holidays!

Tip #1: Double-Check That You Have Your Aligner Case

If you’re going to a loved one’s house to celebrate or even just going to the mall to do some last-minute shopping, make sure that you have your aligner case with you. That way, you won’t be tempted to wrap your trays in a napkin when it comes time to take them out. Remember, this is one of the most common ways they get misplaced, which can add weeks or months onto the backend of your treatment.

Tip #2: Track Your Wear Time with the Invisalign App

With the hustle and bustle that comes with the holidays, you may find it harder than usual to keep track of your wear time. So, use the tools available to you to your advantage, like the Invisalign app! It has a timer that keeps track of your wear time for you, helping you stay on-track in the process.

Tip #3: Fill Your Plate with Vegetables First

Don’t worry – you don’t have to completely avoid candy canes, pecan pie, and peppermint bark this holiday season. You should, however, make an effort not to over-indulge in added sugar. One of the easiest ways to do so is by filling your plate with vegetables first!

Tip #4: Brush and Floss Your Teeth After Each Meal

Remember, even a small cavity can bring your clear aligner treatment to a temporary stop. That’s why it’s so important to consistently brush and floss your teeth after each meal. Keeping travel-sized dental care essentials with you can help make this goal more realistic on-the-go!

Tip #5: Don’t Forget About Your Routine Check-In Visits

Fortunately, Invisalign has fewer check-in visits than other orthodontic treatments. That doesn’t mean they aren’t equally as important, though. These visits allow your dentist to monitor the movement of your teeth and make any necessary changes to your treatment plan early on. So, don’t skip them!
