How Does My Delta Dental Insurance Plan Work?
In exchange for a monthly premium, Delta Dental insurance offers patients coverage for all or part of the cost of preventive and restorative dentistry services. Every benefit plan is a unique contract, and patients are able to make elections for specific coverage. Before we can provide accurate estimates of the out-of-pocket costs of your dental care, we’ll need to review your policy. As we partner with you to achieve and maintain your healthiest smile, we’ll review your insurance coverage and out of pocket treatment costs for any services we provide.
What is the Benefit of In-Network Dental Insurance Coverage?
As an in-network dentist with Delta Dental, our team is able to promise the minimum out of pocket treatment costs. Dental insurance providers coverage for a specific percentage of the cost of dentistry services that are priced within a range they define as fair and average. In-network dentists agree to charge these fees for dental services, so patients are only responsible for their out-of-pocket treatment costs. Out of network dentists can charge higher fees, but you’ll need to pay the difference in pricing in addition to your out of network percentage of the insurer’s fair and average treatment prices. In most cases, discrepancies between the insurer’s cost of dental care and that charged by out of network dentists are minimal.
What Treatments are Covered by Delta Dental Insurance?
Every plan is different. However, the majority of Delta Dental insurance policies cover the following treatment costs:
- 80 to 100% of the cost of dental checkups, teeth cleanings, and other diagnostic and preventive care
- 50 to 80% of the cost of basic restorative services like tooth-colored fillings, dental crowns, and dentures
- 20 to 70% of the cost of orthodontic treatments (traditional and clear braces) as elected by the patient and/or their employer
