Meet Your Las Cruces, NM Dentists
Ramon M. Ortiz, DDS (Dr. Ray)
Before he grew up in New Mexico, Dr. Ray was born in Boston, MA, and while he only lived there until he was about six months old, if you ask him about it he will beam with happiness and go on and on about what a wonderful place it is. Make no mistake, however, Las Cruces is his home. A graduate of Onate High School, Dr. Ray spent eight years in Omaha, NE working toward his dental degree and he would be the first to tell you that while Omaha steaks are great, "real" green chile is better. He loves listening to just about every type of music there is, with his favorite being Classic Rock. Do not be surprised if you hear him asking his staff if they know who is singing the song currently playing in the office. He is convinced that the hit game show "Name that Tune" will one day make a comeback, and he will be ready! If you really want to get on his good side, ask him about "his" New England Patriots or Pearl Jam. You can feel free to tease him about either as well though since he's a good sport.
More than Boston, the Pats, or Pearl Jam combined though, the true loves of his life are his wife, Natalie, and their two daughters: Raylan and Harper. Just about every time you see him, Dr. Ray will have a story to tell you about their latest shenanigans. Speaking of which, Dr. Ray has two dogs: Shenanigans (a dachshund) and Mio (who he jokingly claims is half deer and half chihuahua because he has no idea what he could be). He also has a cat who is affectionately known as "Evil Cat", but that's a story he would rather tell in person. For what it's worth, her real name is Myra.
On the dental side of things, Dr. Ray is proud to be both a student and a teacher in the advancement of dentistry. When you visit our office, you may notice that we do things a little bit differently than many other offices around the country. A firm believer that a dentist should grow with their profession, Dr. Ray has spent considerable time furthering his education after dental school. He volunteers his time as a mentor at the Scottsdale Center for Dentistry in Scottsdale, AZ, where he aids in the education of dentists studying the use of CEREC, a technology that he uses to personally create each and every crown in our office. In fact, we are proud to say that our very own Dr. Ray is also the Patterson Dental CEREC trainer for dentists in the Southern New Mexico and El Paso area. He believes that every patient deserves uncompromising and ethically based dental care and he holds himself to the highest of standards. For that reason, you can be assured that his pursuit of education, as a student and a teacher, will continue to be unwavering so he can provide you with the level of care you deserve.
